Ep 75: My husband and I chat about our childhoods, how those experiences show up in our marriage now, and how we navigate the differences

I'm delighted to bring my husband, James, back on the podcast today for an open conversation around what I believe to be one of the most crucial areas of understanding within a relationship — your varied background and history. Your childhood, yes, but we pull the lens out a bit father than that. This is one of many conversations I hope to have of this kind.

For me, when I was seeking a partner, one of the most crucial elements I desired in another individual was someone who had an introspective relationship with themselves. Could be through therapy, could be through other personal development channels. But essentially I was looking for someone who took a curious and consistent lens to themselves, their past, and how it was showing up now both on an individual and collective level. It's one of the things I value most about James and our relationship.

In this episode we dig into:

  • Our differing childhoods and how they manifest emotionally in our relationship

  • Navigating our biggest triggers

  • The shared practice that fills our relationship with a lot of ease

  • How anger, as an emotion, plays a really unique role in our relationship

  • How we move through conflict in our relationship

  • How we navigate our differences on an ongoing basis

And much more. I'm excited to share this intimate convo with you all today.
